Start with the product, not a material slogan.
PET can support a clear, high-visibility presentation. HDPE can provide an opaque look and may be considered where the product brief calls for a different light or barrier profile. Neither material should be chosen from appearance alone.
Review the contents, expected shelf life, filling process, light sensitivity, closure and liner. The finished container-and-closure combination has to be evaluated for your actual use.
For gummies, tablets, capsules and powders, headspace, desiccant needs and the chosen seal can change the answer. Ask for samples and the current technical specification rather than relying on a generic material comparison.
What to ask your packaging supplier
- Which exact material and bottle model are being proposed?
- What closure and seal combination has been checked?
- Which use conditions and target markets are covered by the available documents?
- Can we review a finished sample and current specification?
